This exquisite Ottoman-style armchair is crafted using a beautiful layering of Arjumand’s World fabrics, drawing inspiration from a French 18th-century chinoiserie style motif and printed on luxurious Italian fabric. Idarica Gazzoni founded the Milan-based fabric house, Arjumand's World, after 20 years of mastering the art of mural painting and trompe l'oeil. The inspiration behind the beautiful collections is Idarica’s fictional muse, Arjumand, an Indian Empress of the Mughal Dynasty. The collection is an eclectic mix of patterns based on Arjumand’s travel inspirations: the Moghul and Ottoman motifs of India’s Taj Mahal, Genoese fabrics for the Russian court, Japan’s ancient indigo-dyed fabrics, and the stripes and florals of the Miao population’s folk clothes in southeast China.

The D'Ascoli x Trompe L’Oeil collection is inspired by Renzo Mongiardino and the home he created in Milan for the mother of founder Martina Mondadori. The Master adored “trompe l’oeil,” the visual technique of fooling the eye with decorative painting that creates the illusion of different materials. Two themes Mongiardino returned to again and again were Marquetry - inlaid wood veneers, and Pietra Dura - inlaid stones. For Cabana, D’Ascoli has created a sumptuous layering of faux bois marquetry and faux marbre pietra dura effects printed on linen and on hand-spun, hand-woven cotton with hand embroidery.
