Sudpsuez Hanging Decorative Paper Panel, Arjumand’s World Roundels & Flowers

$196.00

Drawing inspiration from 19th-century Chinese "Roundels," this hanging decorative panel features decorative and figurative motifs that beautifully capture the essence of the Immortals, revered and auspicious figures deeply rooted in Daoism, China's indigenous religious tradition. It is mounted on gold-painted faux bamboo sticks.

Idarica Gazzoni founded the Milan-based fabric house, Arjumand's World, after 20 years of mastering the art of mural painting and trompe l'oeil. The inspiration behind the beautiful collections is Idarica’s fictional muse, Arjumand, an Indian Empress of the Mughal Dynasty. The collection is an eclectic mix of patterns based on Arjumand’s travel inspirations: the Moghul and Ottoman motifs of India’s Taj Mahal, Genoese fabrics for the Russian court, Japan’s ancient indigo-dyed fabrics, and the stripes and florals of the Miao population’s folk clothes in southeast China.

Handwoven in Tuchin, in the northern coast of Columbia, our double Cañaflecha Pouf is designed by Magnetic Midnight for Cabana. Varying grades of tan and browns in hand-dyed Cañaflecha, a reed traditionally used to make the emblematic 'vueltiao' hat, create a striking piece. Each fibre is braided into strips that are sewn together like a patchwork, typical of the heritage craft that dates back to Colombia's Zenu culture when the designs on each braid were used to denote a clan within the community. Reinvented in this modern design, the pouf is a testament to the marriage of tradition and innovation that defines Cabana.
