Sudpsuez Rare Scallop Chinoiserie Table
An exceptional example of decorative furniture, this rare scallop-shaped side table embodies the theatrical elegance of 18th-century chinoiserie revival. The serpentine top is formed of a dramatic five-lobed scallop outline, echoing natural forms while demonstrating masterful craftsmanship. Executed in a rich, high-gloss lacquer, the surface is adorned with finely painted chinoiserie scenes—delicate landscapes, pagodas, and stylised flora rendered in gold against a deep claret ground.
The table stands on refined cabriole legs with subtle gilt linework, their curves echoing the silhouette of the top, creating harmony between structure and surface. A work of both functional utility and visual poetry, this piece evokes the spirit of European fascination with the East, translated through the lens of Rococo design.
Sudpsuez Rattan: A World of Elegance and Charm by Lulu Lyte and Mitchell Owens
Written by Lulu Lyte and Mitchell Owens
Long fascinated with rattan's versatility, designer Lulu Lytle examines the enduring appeal of this sustainable tropical palm in Rattan: A World of Elegance and Charm. The first book in decades to examine the history and craftsmanship of rattan furniture, this insightful tome showcases rattan's appeal through archival images of beautiful interiors including Madeleine Castaing's winter garden in Paris, Michael Taylor's own Californian beach house, the Titanic's Café Parisian and the Billy Baldwin designed Mr. Kennedy's beauty salon in New York City. Rattan's many personalities are explored through its inclusion in settings as diverse as Impressionist paintings, flamboyant nightclubs and pared down contemporary drawing rooms. Published by Rizzoli. October 2020.

Sudpsuez Rhombus Placemat, Blue
Silk Road Collection
As part of our Silk Road Collection, we’ve partnered with talented Myanmar weavers and Palestinian glassblowers to produce these Rhombus woven placemats. These objects are heritage designs by the artisans, reflecting their historic traditions. This wonderful collaboration was made possible through our work with @turquoisemountain, a charity founded in 2006 by His Majesty King Charles III, that restores historic areas and helps to preserve traditional crafts.
Turquoise Mountain is dedicated to fostering economic development while celebrates the rich cultural heritage of its artisans. The weavers who created these placemats are displaced from their homes by conflict in Myanmar. The initiative works closely with these skilled craftspeople to promote their heritage and create sustainable livelihoods, combining centuries-old techniques with contemporary design. These placemats were crafted on a backstrap loom, which was developed by ancient civilizations and is a highly-skilled and dying craft.
